A couple of weeks ago I was asked by the owner of Rip ‘n’ Richard’s if I’d like to hang photos in his newly refurbished restaurant. Well of course I jumped at the chance and said yes. Definitely. Yes! I’m thinking it’ll be the same deal as Freshies – put the photos up and if someone wants to buy one then all I have to do is replace it and put the cash in the bank. Anyway, I’ve been printing photos all hell over the last few days and I finally have a system that is 99% infallible. Originally I was using Epson gloss paper, but the Epson printer didn’t seem to like it (eh?) – a photo of a bright sunny day would look as if it’d been taken at three in the morning and no amount of cajoling would make any difference. I was getting very frustrated, using up a lot of ink, and on the verge of throwing the thing through the window – not an easy thing to do in the basement as the window is 5ft up the wall and only a foot high. Those of you who know me know that I wouldn’t give up, so I spent days trawling the internet reading horror stories of other photographers with the same printer having the same problem so I decided that gloss paper wasn’t for me. Then two weeks ago I got a shipment of semi-gloss from the USA along with a set of inks (kerching!) and to my wonderment I found that everything printed perfectly! Unbelievable! In the time I’d wasted getting one decent print I was now producing four or five – and believe me, with everything else we have on at the moment, time is of the essence.
Soo, I’ll be very pleased to get the photos in front of Richard on Wednesday for him to look at. As I haven’t seen this wall, I’m going to take quite a lot over and provide him with more than is needed so we can choose some together, then it’s just a case of hanging them and onto the next project. If all goes well, I’ll post a photo of the photos when they’re up. Anyway, another step on the road eh?
Cue Cath making gushing noises about me

I’m making proud gushing noises too!
Good for you, Jase!!
OK, I’m on
Well, they’re now up – we went across this morning to hang them – and even if I am a little biased they look FANTASTIC! Jase has worked his socks off to get these sorted, so is now enjoying a well earned sit on the sofa to relax and I’m about to take him a cup of tea! It doesn’t take a lot to please the lad
When we were putting them up, the people that are working in there finishing off the last bits of the reno were walking past and stopping “Wow, they’re great” “what gorgeous photos” “they look amazing” to quote just one or two….
And, Yes, I am INCREDIBLY proud of Jase – he deserves every bit of recognition he gets and more…..you’re the best, super pal!
xx
Right on cue, Cath
Can’t say I blame you. Jason’s pictures are just gorgeous and we’re dead proud
OK – enough time for you to have drunk your tea. Where’s the photo of the photos on the wall in the restaurant – gosh that’s a bit complicated!
