Garden Animals

Posted in photographs, snow. on Sunday, October 4th, 2009 by Jason

You know, I remember when we lived in Hebden Bridge we had huge problems with rabbits invading the garden. Luckily they weren’t too bright and ate the lawn, not the vegetable patch. Thinking about it, it I had been able to train them to line up in a row while they ate I could have sold the lawn mower! Well, that was then, and this is now. I was on the phone with Lesley this morning when I shouted down the phone, “Oh golly, there’s a moose on the lawn!” Well, it was close to that – Lesley there’s no need for you to fill in the blanks there. A moose was right outside my window.

Luckily I had my camera, but I was so excited I was shaking, so the photos aren’t great. The moose and it’s calf quickly started to move off.  A couple of minutes later and it was in the back garden as well! To give you some idea, moose are about the same size as horses and a whole lot uglier – in looks as well as temperament!

Oh, and now it’s snowing :)

For those in the know – beats the cow walking past the window in Hereford; oh and the the sheep’s head that those naughty boys put on the doorstep.

Moose are very handsome and distinguished looking. If a total pain in the behind sometimes. Do not get your moose angry by trying to shoo it away. It might trample you.

Absolutely Keith – we were well inside!

Thanks for your kind words on the race. All back and settled in fernie now, if a little jetlagged :( Back onto training on the 12th, so enjoying a bit of time off (just enough to get a cold and swollen glands – first time in months – the ol’ bod must be relaxing a little too much!)

I was trying not to annoy it by not looking in it’s general direction.

Hey Cath and Jas – don’t you just love livin’ on Pine Ave?

By the way if you piss off the mother moose or get in between her and her young she’ll charge at you!!

Keep on training – i hear moose run very fast in water too!

I agree with you Jase, they ARE fairly ugly animals, but I wouldn’t tell one to its face!!!!

How far up the scale of I-SPY animals do Jumbo’s, monkies and water buffallo (they are ugly as well!!)come?

A monkey tried to thieve the mirrow off the bike the other day, but a well aimed coco nut smacked it on the back of the head and it fell off the bike…. :)

Flo had a quick trip to Sveden again I see..
