The sunsets are amazing here as the sun dips down over the edge of the bay shining a glancing warm light onto the fishermen and their kids. Would you believe that one family was joined by a pelican who hung around for quite a while – especially after it was given a fish by the father.
The whales are pretty amazing as well. We saw at least half a dozen in one go, some of them breaching by jumping out of the water or slapping the water surface with their giant flippers. Unfortunately my lens isn’t a superhero one, so the photo here is a good as I can get!
Anyway, having a great time. Wish you were all here.

aha – I said Cath would be running on the beach..
Did you win Flo – hahahaha! We’re REALLY looking forward to seeing you – not long now – we’ll have such a fab time!
xxxxx
are you as excited as me? I am very, very excited indeed.
I think we might be!
xxxx
we certainly did have a lovely time on Straddie. We’re now in Singapore and I am claiming a new flag
not sure that is the singaporean flag – but I am in Singapore, honest!
I don’t think you went to Singapore at all – looks a bit like the German flag to me – or perhaps that’s my ignorance of the world flags!
Well, you’ll still be in the air at the moment, hope you have a good secnd leg – chat when you get home.
Lots of love to a very winderful sister and bro in law – 3 weeks just wsn’t long enough
xxxxx
Jase – is the pix of ‘some bird’ a kookaburra sitting in an old gum tree?
Lesley – did you have time to go out in Singapore? We spent the night there once and I thought it was fab (and very clean)
Nope, no idea what it is, though we did see a couple of kookaburras, and I got a couple of photos of them – I’ll put them up soon. They seem to be very laid back birds that ignore everything around them. Lesley, Steve and I saw one being attacked by a couple of birds and it appeared to be quite oblivious to them.
Flo we had a day in Singapore on the way out and spent a few days there on our honeymoon (many years ago!)Both times we had a singapore sling in Raffles
Hello folks, I’ve managed to find a net caf to try and catch up with you all.
No Lesley, that’s not a Singers flag. Looks like a German flag to me.
Never mind eh!
I’ve lost all track of time and I’ve no idea where everybody/anybody is these day, I’ll try to get a bit more sorted.
I like the pix Cath and Straddie Island looks fantastic…
If you’re still there keep having a great time.
Catherine – was the comment about your winderful sister and bro in law a freudian slip?
