No rain, but definitely a cooler, cloudier start so I changed the lenses in my glasses for the clear lenses. Not a good look – I look like a lab technician! The look was further improved by my hi-vis jacket. You can expect to see this look gracing the cat walks in Paris next year!
We decided to take it easier today and so we spent most of the day pootling through northern France, taking in the beautiful countryside. By day three some people were finding things hard so we cycled with a couple of them and hopefully helped them cycle that little bit further than they otherwise might have. I certainly realised that being mentally prepared for this was as important as being physically prepared. Those who were convinced they could do it in general did.
The great thing about this trip was the back up support, so when Daniella got a puncture the technicians were on hand and had it fixed in minutes; that’s my kind of bike ride!
Some people seemed to be able to combine serious cycling with serious drinking – but not us. So tonight, just like the other nights we were tucked up in bed in our pyjamas with a hot chocolate by 10pm – heaven!
