And so to the final day. I couldn’t believe how quickly it had come round and didn’t want the bike ride to finish. Still no aching or soreness so I could happily have carried on for days!
By late morning we were approaching the outskirts of Paris. Boy oh boy are those roads busy. And they sure have a lot of traffic lights! It was at this point that my cleats decided to require a bit more effort to unclip – great! But I managed this bit without falling off. And so to the holding point. We all met in a park just outside Paris so we could cycle in together – all 120 of us. Once we got there we were given a blue London to Paris t’shirt and before too long we were ready for the final bit of the trip. The last bit went by in a bit of a blur. We cycled down the Champs Elyse, around the Arc De Triomphe roundabout and to the Eiffel Tower. Lots of people took photos of us as we went – I guess it’s not every day you see 120 people cycling down the road together! And so to the end. There were lots of people there to greet us. Steve, my Mum and Dad were there and as soon as we got off our bikes they were over to give me a hug. We were all so excited to have completed the trip and I think everyone was on a bit of a high. After a group photo it was time for our own photos. My favourite one is the one of me and my Dad under the Eiffel Tower. I’m wearing my prostate cancer charity t’shirt and Dad & I are both grinning from ear to ear.

Tour de France next year then? I think they finish at the same place
Steve, Geoff and I plus numerous other friends of the cyclists were waiting at the Eiffel Tower and I can’t describe the emotions as they came into view. I was filling up even before they arrived and when they did!!! Well I wouldn’t have missed that moment for the world – pity we can’t bottle the feeling, but we do have the pics.
The atmosphere was amazing and the cyclists were on such a high I began to wonder who put what into their water bottles.
We’re all so proud of you Lesley!
btw Paris aint ‘alf bad either.
Hell of a job Lesley. Fantastic.
